Character Name: Hotpuss
Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Bronze+Dragonflight&n=Hotpuss
Real Life Age: 41
Class: mage
Character Spec: arcane frost, will go back to frost if needed
Profession/Skill Level: 375 enchanter/tailor first aid, cooking working on fishing currently 225
Are you able to make these raid times (Server time) yes but not every day, 3- 4 times every week not a problem, maybe 5 sometimes. i normally start work at around 0000, but not wednesday or thursdays, so till 0000 server tiem is ok

Sunday -> Thursday 8 - 11
*Raids can go past scheduled times.

What is your raiding experience? kara and za in bc, i did aq20 and aq40 when i played on US servers b4 i had a break

What are your past guilds and why did you leave? (please note if you are in ANY current guild) omega rose, but wasnt getting any heriocs or raids done, currently frostmourne, and although we are doing stuff, id like to do more.

Do you use addons to help maximize your healing / dps? If so, which ones? decursive, quartz, , i have around 450 installed addons

Will you be able to maintain a MINIMUM of 70% raid attendance ? yes

Will you come prepared to raids with 2 flasks, 4 charges of oil, and 1 stack of buff food / bandages? always carry 40 food, 2 mana oil, 15 flasks, 3 different types, 40 arcane powder, scrolls

Are you familiar with ALL the strats for BT / Hyjal? no

Do you ever have latency issues, or do you suffer from disconnects regularly? not disconnects, sometimes after 5 hours of playing memory usage gets too high and need to relog is all

Do you ever suffer from unstable framerates that cause you to freeze or run in place?

Are you applying for any other guilds? nope

Who do you know in Nightfall? no one i dont think

Do you play on Friday/Saturday? i do a little

Anything else you care to mention (Optional but encouraged)? i love raiding, will listen to instructions, just want to do as much content as possible, and enjoy doing it, as well as i guess have my character geared to the best she can be, i also have a lvl 70 paladin, healer specc, needs gear thos only 1350 healing.

i am also hit capped and have 1100 bonus spell damage unbuffed, my frostbolts hit for between 1700 to 2000, normal, and 3600 to 4100 on a crit, with arcane power on around and over 5000

i used the those trinkets to boost my stamina, whilst waiting for something more appropriate, the thinking behind it is, if i have stamina high enough, as a squishy, i can take a hit off something, ice block, well still still be alive to ice block so i can take heal and continue, a live mage with slightly lower dps is better than no mage, or dead mage.

but ty for your comments. yes i enjoy raiding and want to do lots more, yes i want to get gear and be as best i can be, but all in good time and with fairness.

i am trying hard to get my gear as high as possible, but it takes time and patience, i would love the opportunity to do the current endgame raids, b4 wotlk comes out and makes it all redundant, like tbc did to old world wow.

fingers crossed

Looks good. I would recommand to change the trinket to badge one and maybe the one from quag in hc sp. Also think about your crit/sta gems and u should change them around.
Using arcane/ice build isnt optimal for dps but its your call.

okay ill look into it, was hoping for dropped ones, but ill have look, at spec. howewver i do find this spec very good for mana, and on long boss fights prolly only need 1 mana pot/ it does depend on if i cast other spells than frostbolt, and i do get about 2k per bolt + ne crits and crits are over 4k (buffed)

I am quite willing to take advise and respec, it isnt a problem, but i do cast a frost bolt at 1700 to 2000 and if crits its about 4000 to 4500, then i have arcane power too, is that below wot i should be throwing out?

Hey Hotty, first of all thank you for application smile

i saw your gear i think it si enough but you need fix a couple of things

1) your spell dmg 958 is low for BT and MH i suggest you to change gems spell haste with spell dmg, i know spell haste is important for mages but your priority atm is to increase a bit spell dmg minimum 1000

2) you are not hit cap 156( for frost/fire mages 164=hit cap with elemental precision, for arcane mages 76=hit cap with arcane focus).

If you 'll fix these things and read and acceprt guild terms and rules then you will be welcome in our guild biggrin

Gl m8 i hope you'll joining us

hello

It's 127 for frost mages, due to the "Ghost Hit" of Winterchill. Can't really exactly explane this, but it's the way it is anyway:).

yes. Because For every level above the caster, a mob gains an effective 8 magic resistance against all magic schools. This means a level 73 mob will have an effective 24 magic resistance against any player. It's important to note that this level based magic resist cannot be overcome or removed in any way, not even by spell penetration. It's estimated that partial resists caused by level based magic resistance account for a 6% loss in overall damage for fire spells.

Frostbolt, however, is a binary spell, meaning it has special rules regarding magic resist. A binary spell can only hit or miss; it will not ever partially resist. Because of this, frostbolt is completely unaffected by level based magic resist. We're not exactly sure why this occurs, but frost mages almost always see a 99% hit rate on frostbolt (assuming they are hit capped which essentially is between 120-130 for frosties). Therefore the 6% damage reduction can be completely ignored.

well i re specced to deep frost, i was always a frost mage, and in arcane frost spec my bsd was over 1100, but for reason and another and seeing a very low hit capped mage out perform me with about the same bsd, i went for haste and back to frost, for the survivability. i am hit capped depends on which equip i have on, but find it really isnt making much difference, when hit capped i get resisted as much as when im not. i have quite a few extra items of equipment, the t4 headpiece, i just got the fetish of primal gods b4 i had 25 badge one, omg i forgot its name, saphrones wishbone?

which is why my hit dropped from 168 to 156, i am going to change a gem to put it back up, im still throwing a frostbolt at 1800+ and then my crit but 1 every 2.3 seconds and io use quartz so i dont miss the next cast beginning, for those that dont know quartz shows the latency of your cast, so you can click it sooner, something like that, im looking at my bsd whilst trying to remanin effective as a mage in general, and be useful for when the mob comes after me, so i can keep it a distance and get more damage into it.

there are so many different schools of thought, and i judge my performance as a mage on where in the damage meter list i come. and im normally quite high up there, and have to take into account i end up decursing, sheeping etc,

i dont know everything, i have been playing wow for 3 - 4 years now, and know quite a bit, i enjoy the game and the social side too, i love raiding and try my best to be the best. i know i havent done many raids and not anything above gruuls, but thats wots keeps me interested and playing, i wantt o get the gear, i want to go raiding. i can add more spell damage, but theni think the more i can cast the more damage i will do, and now back as a frost mage keep the movement and attack speed of the mob down, helping healers and tanks out too.

and ty for feedback and discussion, pls keep it coming, it all helps, especially from some of the more experianced players

the reason i use the gear i have and lowered my bsd, is for higher stamina, i have to make do with raiding za, and that lynx gets me all the time, now i can have 11k health buffed and get hit and stay alive, this is one of the reasons i choose stamina and the gear i have, and also i dont seem to find many tanks i can stay below their threat, even after vanish, i climb up through the threat list very quickly again. more bsd will make this worse.

okay did a lot of reading, and now i realise i wasted my spell hit points to get to 164, as its 127, according to some sites that is, or is it, wot do you think, 127 or 164? i believe 127, but then there are so many different opinions,
thanxs for your input

I think the 127 was a bug as most sites refur to it, and as far as I know, it has been fixed...
(The bug was you were getting 6% from the talent insted of 3%)
